Ms. Willie Mae McRae departed this life on Wednesday morning, October 2, 2013,
at Triad Genesis Healthcare, High Point following several months of declining
health.
Sister McRae was born April 6, 1928, in Jackson Springs, NC. She received her
early education in Montgomery County. She later graduated from a school of
Cosmetology and moved to High Point to continue to pursue her career. Being a
strong, independent woman, she also worked in the manufacturing industry as a
sewer, where she retired after 30 years of service.
Sister McRae, a woman of faith, was a strong believer in the Word of God. Her
hunger for the Word was displayed as she ministered to others. Always eager to
share the Word of God, Sister McRae taught bible Study at various nursing homes
in the area. She was the co-founder of Kingdom Life Family worship Center in
High Point.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Pastor Olevia Gibson, parents, Rev.
Chesley Gibson and Mary Leak McRae; five sister and six brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memories, one grandson, Wesley Gibson of the home,
two sisters, Mary Harris and Lenora Malloy both of High Point; nieces, Elvenia
Diggs, Sylvia Ratley, Mae Frances McRae all of High Point, Teresa Bennett,
Maxine Owens, Irma Gunnels, Arlene McDonald, Carolyn Ingram and Kim Watts;
nephews, Lu McRae, Sims DeBerry, Haywood McRae, William Buckson and James C.
Malloy; a host of great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Home-going service will be 4p.m., Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Word of Life
Tabernacle with Rev. Diggs officiating. Family visitation will begin at 3:30pm
at the church and other times at the home located at 1456 London Dr.
