William Lorton Orr Jr., affectionately known as” Bubble” by family and friends, was born on August 8, 1953 in Philadelphia, PA to William Sr and Hermine Orr. He passed away on March 2, 2018 at W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center Hospice in Salisbury, NC.
Bubble grew up in Philadelphia where he attended school at Furness Junior High and Edward Bok High School. After high school, Bubble immediately entered the United States Marine Corps. His job in the Marines was a combat engineer. He was shipped to the war zone in Vietnam, where he was critically injured. Bubble was later shipped back home during the war and after numerous surgeries on his brain, he was given an honorable discharge.
Bubble had a self-taught talent for playing the guitar which he enjoyed a great deal. He even took the time to teach his younger brother Rodney how to play the drums, in an effort to form his own band.
Bubble loved his family in his own special way. He often traveled the I-95 corridor to visit his family in Ridgeland, South Carolina where he resided for many years. Bubble was known as a happy-go-lucky man and always had a smile on his face. Even after suffering through a stroke and cancer, he remained upbeat. He even passed away with a smile on his face.
Bubble was proceeded in death by his mother, Hermine Orr, (affectionately known as Precious), and father, William Orr Sr.; one son Jyhrie Emmanual Graham Orr.
He is survived by his wife, Angelisa Thomas Orr; his sons, William Cortez Orr III (Stefan), Omar Orr, Toure Askia Orr, Stefan Lorton Orr, Marqunn Daron Orr, daughter, LaCree Nick, step- daughter, Precious Uniqe Scott; sister, Charlene Taylor Orr; brother, Rodney D. Orr Sr (Aisha); six grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
