Virginia Burris

December 24, 1934 — April 6, 2018

Virginia “Ginny Cake” Burris (83); was born on December 24, 1934 to Gurther and Mary Abney Horne and raised in High Point, NC.  Virginia was known for her love of God and positive outlook on life.  She was a member of First Emmanuel Baptist Church of High Point, NC where she made her life’s work dedicated to being the best missionary that she could be.

Her work was slowed, but not stopped in 2005 when he health became server enough that she could no longer be cared for in the home.  She moved into Libertywood which is now Avante’ Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.  There she continued telling people about the Savior, Jesus the Christ.  Her famous last words always being, “Remember God loves you and so do I.”  She will always be remembered by her captivating smile and positive attitude though it all.

On April 6, 2018 God looked down from Heaven and decided that she had labored long enough and brought her home to reside with Him.  She was blessed to leave behind, cherishing her memory: One daughter, Cora Lee Johnson of High Point.  Three brothers, Jimmy Wynn of Philadelphia, PA, Andrew (Paulette) Horne of Falls Church, VA, and Richard Archie of High Point, NC.  Three grandchildren, Mary Johnson, Taunya and Coley Davis all of High Point, and Norman “June Bleeze” Johnson of Archdale/Trinity, NC.

She has seven great grandchildren; Bryan Johnson, Tiffany “Tip” Johnson, Darren Autry all of High Point, NC; Mallory Graham of Greenville, NC; Jasmine Davis of Pembroke, NC, Shane Davis, and Ju’Nore Williams of High Point, NC.  Two great-great granddaughters Amanii Johnson of High Point, NC and Ava James of Greenville, NC and one surviving aunt Cecile Edwards.

A special friend of the family, Bill Darr of Thomasville, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Gurther (Mary Buck) Horne and Mary Abney (Eugene) Archie.  Also, her siblings, three brothers Larry Archie, Charles Archie, and John Archie.  Four sisters, Jean Ester Hayes, Leola Hayes, Louise Jones, and Mary “Sut” Mangle Bailey.

Even in death if she would have a closing statement I am assured it would be, “Try Jesus and see that He is a living Savior indeed.”
