Savannah Williams-Kollock

Savannah Mae Williams Kollock was welcomed into this world on November 24, 1941, to the late Boyd Williams and Aimee Gibson Williams. She was educated in the Marlboro County School System. Savannah relocated to High Point, NC and joined Gethsemane Baptist Church. She later became a member of New Zion Baptist under the leadership of her nephew, Pastor James “Moe Boy” Purnell. She worked at Highland Yarn Mills Company for over 20 years. “Aunt Cootie” as she affectionately called was a family-oriented person. She was known to be everyone’s auntie. Savannah had no biological children, however, her nieces and nephews surrounded her like a mom. Aunt Cootie was a night owl and would enjoy late night conversations on the phone with her sisters and close friends. She enjoyed getting together with her family and cooking for the reunions, and other family events. She had admirable love for her sisters and brothers. Aunt Cootie was a caretaker for her brothers and enjoyed cooking and fixing their plates every Sunday, especially her brother Freddy! After fixing his plate sometimes he would call her on the phone and complain if she didn’t put enough “juice on his beans.” (lol) and her brother Theo would take pieces of fat back before dinner was completed and hide them in his pocket to keep Aunt Cootie from seeing it, unfortunately the huge grease stains on his coveralls would tell on him (lol). Aunt Cootie enjoyed every moment of it, and she would only laugh. Her weekdays began at 12 noon daily just in time to watch her soaps on tv. Calling her during soap opera times were forbidden unless it was during a commercial. Her vacations consisted yearly going to the beach, relaxing in the hot tub and often a cruise trip. Aunt Cootie’s love for her nieces and nephews had no boundaries. She will truly be missed. Savannah transitioned to her heavenly home on early Sunday morning on June 12, 2022, while at home. We know that Aunt Cootie was happy to see her parents; her brothers and sisters, Luther Williams, AnnieB. Glover, RC Williams, Freddie Williams, Thedeo Williams, Theo Williams, Annie Kate McClain, Cleavester Williams, and Geneva Brown; one niece, Sharon W. Castro. She leaves behind a one brother, John Walter (Louise) Williams and one sister, Minnie McInnis; a multitude of loving nieces and nephews who encircled her with care; among those a special niece and caretaker, Annie Wright; and great niece, Shalanda McRae; a host of other wonderful relatives and faithful friends.
