Rosa Mae Johnson, known to some as “Tinty, was called home at the age of 70, on Monday, March 17 at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston Salem, NC. Rosa was born on August 13, 1954, in Pinewood, SC to the late Henry Green and Marie Stephens Green.
Rosa received some education at Manchester School in Pinewood, South Carolina. Rosa met Robert in the early 70’s in Pinewood, SC and they later relocated to Thomasville, NC. Rosa and Robert were united in holy matrimony and were together for over 50 years. Rosa began working at Thomasville Furniture as a sander and a highlighter. She worked there for over 35 years until they closed the doors in 2005. Rosa was like a foster mother and a grandmother to so many children in the community.
Rosa gave her life to the Lord and was a loyal and faithful member at Freewill UME Church in Thomasville, NC. She served on the Young Adult Choir for many years.
Rosa loved her family; especially the grandchildren. She enjoyed fishing, working with her flowers and sitting on the porch. She loved attending sporting events in any weather. Her presence will definitely be missed.
Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, Marie and Henry Green; her brothers, Henry Green Jr, Moses Green, Joseph Stevens and Paul Ballard.
Rosa leaves to cherish her love and memories to her loving husband, Robert Johnson of the home; daughters, Takeisha Johnson, Tina Johnson and Tralyce Johnson all of Thomasville; her grandchildren, Alexis Carolina, Jhaniyah Norris, Tevin Johnson, Taiden Johnson, Mckenly Thomas, Carlos Thomas, Tamaj Rogers and Nasir Ervin; two sisters, Annie Green (Edmond Anderson) of Thomasville; Delphine Green (Jeffrey) of Pinewood, SC; one brother, Thomas Green of Pinewood, SC; brothers-in-law, Harold Johnson (Sally), Elijah Johnson (Rena) of Thomasville, NC; George Mitchell of Marlton, NJ; sisters-in-law, Thomasine Stevens, Adel Johnson of Thomasville, NC, Margaret Reese of Florida and Clarice Ballard of Tobyhanna, PA; a host of nieces and nephews; her special friends, Mary Lee Alford, Sara Makupson, Diane Carolina and Frances Kess and she loved her fur baby King, along with a multitude of cousins and friends.
