Richard Melton Sr. age 85 entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at High Point Regional Health System. He was born on August 30, 1931 in Wadesboro, NC to the union of Connie Melton and Dellar Kinder Melton.
Richard was the seventh of seven Melton children.
He was educated at William Penn High School. Richard was a man of travel. He relocated to Baltimore, MD with one of his sisters in the early 1950s. Later in the early 1960s, he relocated to Norwalk, CT, and was employed with Bridgeport Brass Company for many years, where he resided until 1997.
He then decided that High Point, NC would be home. In his leisure time, Richard enjoyed sharing his sense of humor, and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Pauline M. Love, Nannie M. Hunter, and Louise M. Cook; brothers, Elmer Melton, Fred Melton, and Charles Melton.
Those remaining to cherish his fond memories includes: his daughter, Mary P. Blocker of High Point, NC; sons, Gregory Melton of Charlotte, NC, Richard (Angela) Melton, Jr., of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Joseph Melton, Sr. of Tarboro, NC; also affectionately loved as a daughter, Sandra (Mike) Pendergrass; twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
