Bennie Mae Dickerson was born on April 29, 1947 in Wadesboro, NC, the first child of Bennie Leak and Mary Ross Sturdivant Leak.
She departed this life on Saturday, June 15, 2019 in Thomasville, NC.
Bennie Mae graduated from West Deep Creek High School, class of 1966 in Anson County, NC. She then relocated to Thomasville, NC and was employed with Thomasville Furniture Company in Plant A in Thomasville, NC for over 35 years. Bennie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved shopping, dancing, singing, going out to eat dinner and fishing. She was a faithful member at First Emmanuel Baptist Church and loved attending Sunday School. She also served on Senior Usher Board #2 until her health declined. She was also was a member of Mary Blackburn Chapter#5 OES Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Central Jurisdiction Inc. and Ancient Arabic Daughters of Sphinx Ester Court #6.
Bennie Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie Leak and Mary Ross Sturdivant Leak; one son, Morris Thomas Dickerson; sister, Linda Faye Leak Barringer.
Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Morris Dickerson of the home, son; Richard Dickerson of the home, daughters; Annette Dickerson (Haywood), High Point, NC and Alethea Gregg, Thomasville, NC; three grandchildren; Morris Gregg, Averee Gregg and Christopher Gregg, Thomasville, NC; two brothers; Thomas Leak, Jamaica Queens, NY and Barry Leak, High Point, NC; seven sisters, Roeather Leak, Wadesboro, NC, Mary Leak, High Point, NC, Betty Ann Robinson (Gus), Morven, NC Nettie Ruth Leak (Late Gary), Wadesboro, NC, Robin Elaine Leak, High Point, NC, Janice Leak, Wadesboro, NC and Priscilla Bridges, High Point, NC; four aunts; Julia Mae Liles, Wadesboro, NC, Alberta Lamphley, Chicago, IL, Rosetta Ingram, Charlotte, NC, Carolyn Sturdivant, Morven, NC and Lily Leak of New York; one uncle, Eddie Lee Ratliff, Wadesboro, NC; one aunt in law; Marilyn Sturdivant, Wadesboro, NC; one brother in law; Larry Dickerson (Thelma), Sumter, SC and one sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Canty, Pinewood, SC, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, great great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
