Nathaniel Smith, Sr., age 89, of High Point, NC, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, after a brief illness. He was born in Laurens, SC, on June 13, 1933, to the late Cleophus and Alma Gray Smith. He eventually found his way to High Point, NC, where he resided for most of his adult life. Nathaniel was a unique individual with an infectious personality and a warm smile that would soften your heart, but he could be equally stern when it was required. There isn’t enough time to go through all the stories and the laughter that he produced. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. The void that he leaves cannot be filled. The lessons that he taught were essential. His quiet demeanor was not indicative of the man that he was. Nathaniel loved his family deeply and protected them under all circumstances. He was larger than life, and he will be missed. Nathaniel is survived by his children, Debbie, Alma, Wayne, Richard, Iris, and Evelyn; one brother, Roy Smith; grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Rest in paradise with your wife, Anna, and with your children, Kenneth, Brian, and Wallace… You have earned your peace.
