Mitchell T. Gayten, Sr. died peacefully on January 13, 2021 after an extended battle with failing health. He was born on October 10, 1952 in Columbia, SC at Fort Jackson.
He was known for his amazing singing voice and special talents. He was a self taught musician who worked hard to provide for his family. The unique feelings he had for each child was captured in their own special song as they were born.
He was preceded in death by a son McKinley and a granddaughter Kyra.
Survived to cherish his memories are wife, Maggie; seven children, Michelle, Mitchell Jr; Mammie, Misha, Myisha, McKinley and Miriam. Twenty-six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, one brother, Leonard (SC); two sisters, Jill (SC) and Rosa (CO). A host of nieces, nephews and friends of his local community.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at People's Funeral Chapel at 1404 W. English Rd, High Point NC 27260. Visitation at 3:30pm and funeral service at 4:00pm.
