Melanie Scott-Wright

July 22, 1986 — January 6, 2023

Melanie Renee Scott-Wright, our beloved daughter, mother, sister, auntie, cousin and loyal friend from Thomasville, North Carolina, passed away on January 6, 2023.

Melanie was born on July 22, 1986 to Andrew Scott and Mary Scott in High Point, NC. Melanie  graduated from Thomasville High School. While at THS she was a member of several clubs and organizations. Fitting of her personality, Melanie was a student tutor with the Thomasville High School’s Helping Hands Peer Tutors. She was the chief of the Growler Yearbook staff. After high school Melanie began her college education at North Carolina Central University. There she began to blossom into a young woman and create memories with Tamara, one of Melanie’s many friends. Speaking of friends, Melanie will definitely be missed by her childhood friends Princess, Tasha, and Shaunta. Where there was one, there was another: The Best of Friends!

After attending North Carolina Central University, Melanie continued her education by attending - and later graduating with an associate’s degree from Guilford Technical Community College. As she began her professional career, she worked at the GTCC bookstore, and continued bookstore associate employment at Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Melanie was also a Tax Preparation Specialist with Jackson-Hewitt. Melanie’s most recent employment as a Grief and Bereavement Counselor was with Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Yet another true testament of her commitment to help people during tough times.

On November 23, 2005, Melanie blessed us with the birth of her oldest child, Malaya Kadence Jordan. Malaya scared us with her premature arrival, but look at Malaya now. She is the spitting image of Melanie Renee: fun loving and joyful-spirit with a beautiful smile! Along with that bright smile, Melanie was a hard working, determined and multi-talented mother.

Continuing with the blessings of life, Melanie gave birth to another gift to the world, Cayden Montrez Fountain. Cayden’s father is Andre Fountain, and  Melanie’s soulmate. Melanie was preceded in death by her and Andre’s daughter, Alise Andrea Fountain.

Melanie is survived by her parents Andrew and Mary, her step-father, Robert Scott and her siblings Shirley Jean, Clinton Tyrone and Brian Eugene. She is also survived by her nephew Tyrone Atonio Payne. Who, by the way, is Melanie’s closest in friendship nephew. They literally grew up together. She -now- is a great aunt to Tyrone Antonio’s son, Tauren. Melanie is also survived by a host of cousins far too many to name from North Carolina and South Carolina. All of them are here today sharing in the memory of Melanie Renee Scott-Wright.
