Maurice James Bethea

Maurice James Bethea, age 55, passed on January 3, 2025, at his home. He was born to James Luther Bethea Jr., and Jaine Mae Crawford Bethea on August 12, 1969, in Queens, NY. Maurice graduated from Southern Guilford High School where he played many sports from football to wrestling. He was very proud of his sports days and often told stories of those times. He met his wife a couple months after graduation and they married, living a loving life and bringing four beautiful children into this world. His family, wife, children were his LIFE! He loved them more than life. He would tell anyone he met no matter who they were that his family was his everything. He was a hardworking man and provided for his family 100%. Maurice worked most of his life at Thomasville Furniture Warehouse and later was employed with Mohawk Flooring. He had love for everyone and was the loudest person in the room. His smile was contagious, and he brought life and laughter to every party. Maurice was preceded in death by his father, James Bethea Jr.; two grandfathers, Harry Crawford and Luther Bethea and grandmother, Flossy Bethea; and great-grandmother, Emma McFadden. He leaves to cherish in his memories: his wife, Sherri Bethea; mother, Janie Crawford; three sons, Marquise, Mercury, and Marcelus Bethea; one daughter, Marissa LeMonds; one sister, Amy Crawford; one brother, Lee Crawford; grandmother, Edna Crawford; eleven grandchildren, Jayden, Melanie, Marcelus II, Gabriella, Bentlee, Mara, Aria, Sienna, Emma, Leo, and Mercy; also, a host of many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
