Matthew Canty Jr.

Matthew Canty Jr. was born on November 28, 1948, in Clarendon County, South Carolina to Matt Canty and Lucille Billie Canty.

Matthew attended school in Clarendon County, South Carolina and worked as a cement finisher for over 30 years. he was preceded in death by his parents, Brother, Edward J. Canty, Sister, Thelma Galloway, Wife, Wilma Calloway, grandson, Quanterrius Lindsay and Sons, Keith D. Canty and "Gupp" Timothy Henry.

Matthew was a hardworking, somewhat quiet, loving and friendly man. He loved his children and all of his family and friends. You would never miss him coming because you would hear his beloved Cutlass coming up the road. He loved that car, he had it for over 20years. No matter where you would see it, you would always think of him. He was a member for 20 years at Christian Fellowship Word of God Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Robert Bowman and the current pastor, Susan Burgess, who is also his cousin.

He will be missed by many, especially his family in which he leaves to cherish, his sons, Willie Canty (Von and "Lil" Willie) and Chris Canty ("Lil Chris"), daughters, Shirley Canty (KarJeana Lindsay) and Lora Whitner (Jimmy and Jonathan), Stepsons, Derrick Canty and Terry Johnson (Jodi, Austin and Summer), Grandsons, (Keith's sons), "Lil Keith, Keyshawn, Kejuan and Kevonte Canty, his brother, Aaron Canty, family friend, Antwan Neely and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He will be missed by all who knew him. He lived a full and blessed life, in which he fought hard and remained "STRONG" until the very end.
