Mary Wheeler

Mary Easter Bethea Wheeler, 87, formerly of Dillon, SC passed peacefully into eternity during the early morning hour on Monday, May 18, 2015, at her home in High Point, NC. She was born in Dillon County on January 2, 1928 to the late Ms. Mary Nancy Bethea. She received her formal education at Dunbar School in Clio, SC. At an early age, Mary became a member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, and attended faithfully until her health declined. Mrs. Wheeler was a homemaker and provided well for her daughters. She was proud of her girls and took pride in their many accomplishments. She relocated to High Point, NC to reside with her daughter, Sandra Wilson, along with the assistance of her other two daughters. Having the desire to worship in the house of the Lord, her home church became the “Vision of Hope Family Worship Center” in High Point, NC. Mrs. Wheeler was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Mary Nancy Bethea; her husband, the late Dock Wheeler; brother, Theodore Bethea; uncle, Lawrence Bethea and cousin, Inez Bethea. She leaves to cherish her memory daughters: Kattie Paige (Curlie) of College Park, GA; Carrie Wright (Marvin) of High Point, NC; and Sandra Wilson of High Point, NC.; step daughter, Elizabeth Johnson (Henry) of Dillon, SC; brother-in-law, Willie McLaughlin of Greenwood, SC; grandchildren: Carrie Jacobs, Jimmy Wilson, Minister Sonya Wright, Gaston Diomi all of High Point, NC; John Wilson (Minister Patricia) of Warner Robins, GA; LeKisha Paramore of College Park, GA; and Tarshia Wilson of Salisbury, NC; thirty great-grandchildren; twenty-five great great-grandchildren; god-children, Gladys Flager, Delores Bethea both of Dillon, SC, and Willie Faye Williams of Atlantic City, NJ; god-sisters, May Billings of Dillon, SC and Beulah Clark of Thomasville, NC; care givers: Carla Davis, Sarah Little, Joanne Charles, May Boone; a special care giver and friend, Bennie Brockington; a special nephew, Wilbert McLaughlin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
