Martha Louise Jones Staples, age 84 of High Point, NC passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, February 16, 2015.
Martha was born on June 10, 1930 to Maude Jackson and Leroy Jones. Briefly after her mother’s passing Martha was raised by her step-mother, Ora Jones and her father. A lifelong resident of High Point, she attended William Penn High School.
Martha married Nathaniel Staples in 1950, from this union there were seven children; Beatrice, Merlin, Deborah, Cassie, Franklin, Shelton, and Kevin. She was employed with Kay Springs and High Point Regional Hospital. She was a faithful member of First Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel Staples; one daughter, Deborah Staples; parents, Maude Jackson, Ora Jones, and Leroy Jones; two brothers, Leroy Jones and Edward Jones.
She is survived by her daughters, Beatrice (Walter) Warren and Cassie Staples all of High Point; her sons, Merlin Staples, Franklin Staples, Shelton Staples and Kevin (Gloria) Staples all of High Point; three grandchildren she raised, Sharon Staton, Marquia Kersey, and Donnie Ray Staples; special care giver and grand-daughter, Yolanda Staples; sixteen grandchildren; forty-four great grandchildren, eighteen great great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
