Marquita LaVada Hairston, affectionately known as "Kita," Miss Mook," and Aline's "Black Queen," passed away, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of love and resilience. Born on November 22, 1983, in Greensboro, North Carolina, to Lynda Faye Hairston, Marquita lit up the lives of everyone she encountered with her bright smile and fashionable style.
At just 16, Marquita graduated from job corps in Kittrell, North Carolina, showcasing her commitment and perseverance in reaching her aspirations. She followed her passion for helping others by studying criminal justice at Vance-Granville Community College. Later, Marquita moved to Athens, Georgia, where she welcomed new opportunities and friendships. Upon returning home, she dedicated herself to serving others as a Certified Nursing Assistant, a position that allowed her compassion and nurturing to truly flourish. Among her roles, the one she cherished the most was that of a mother, her adored daughter, Brooke Amani Hairston, became the center of her universe and her utmost joy. Marquita was not only a daughter, sister, aunt and mother, she was also a dancer, a trusted confidante and an inspiration to those around her. Although her time with us was far too short, her memory will forever live on the hearts of those who loved her, and her legacy will continue through her daughter, Brooke.
Marquita is preceded in death by her grandfather, Tommy Kimber, uncle Tony Martin Sr. (Latonya Martin), cousins, Tony Martin Jr. and Isaiah Williamson and great-uncles, Larry McAdoo and Charlie McAdoo.
Marquita is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Brooke Amani Hairston, her mother, Lynda Faye Hairston-Neal (Jerry Neal Sr.); her siblings, Keyon Hairston, Jamie Hairston and Precious Hairston, her grandparents, Gerry Martin Sr. and Lynda Kimber, she also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, including Marlene McAdoo, Vera white, Dr. Anissa Martin, Carlton Martin Jr., Linwood Martin (Si), and Gerry Martin Jr and many other relatives and friends.
