Marilyn Barthell

September 11, 1946 — May 10, 2010

Today we celebrate the passing of the beautiful legacy of Marilyn Kay Barthell, born September 11, 1946, in Miami, FL, to Jesse Brown and Florence Moss.

She was raised by her Godly grandparents, James and Leerlene Moss now both deceased. Kay as she was affectionately known spent her childhood years in Miami, FL where she received her education in the Miami-Dade County Public school system. In 1963, she met and married the love of her life of more than 44 years, Eddie Lee Barthell, Sr., to this union five beautiful children were born, in 1972, the family moved to High Point, NC to provide for a better life. She was employed by Guilford County School system where she retired after more than 22 years.

She received Christ at an early age attending Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Miami, FL until relocating to High Point where she attended First Baptist and Bethlehem Baptist and later became affiliated with Life Changing International Church.

In February of 2004, she began her struggle with failing health. She fought diligently until God said you have fought a good fight, you have finished your course, you have kept the faith, On March 21, 2007, she entered into eternal rest.

Preceding her in death is her husband, Eddie Lee Barthell Sr., and youngest son, Sammy Leon Barthell.

She leaves to celebrate her legacy one son, Eddie Lee Barthell Jr., (Sharon), three daughters, Theresa Barthell (Michael), Yvette Barthell (Bobby) and Lynn Peguese (Taylor) all of High Point, NC, One daughter-in-law, Edna Barthell, Mothers, Florence Robinson of Miami, FL, two sisters, Sherryll Simmons (Darryl), Jennifer Tyler (Edward) and one brother, Hilary Mills all of Miami, FL, three brothers-in-laws, Sherry Barthell (Marica), Alvin Barthell (Catherine) both of Miami, FL and Edward Barthell (Mary) of Brandon, FL, four sisters-in-laws, Virginia Jackson of Fitzgerald, GA, Lucille Lampkin (Robert) of Ocilla, GA, Alice Taylor of Lakeland FL and Annie White of High Point, NC, two special sisters-in-laws, Olivia Mears and Janie Barthell of Miami, FL. Twenty two grandchildren, Corey Barthell, Darius Barthell, Courtney Gray, Marquita Barthell, Wylie Faison, Durrell Barthell, Jerry Chandler, Lashawnda Barthell, Sherrod Barthell, Michael Morrison Jr., Monterikia Barthell, Michele and Nichele, Tamika and Shameka Barthell, Miles Barthell, Treveon Barthell, Diamon Barthell, Taylor Peguese III, Asia Barthell, Ayanna and Jabari Barthell all of High Point, NC. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including special friends, Phyllis Phillips, Carnell Davis, and Madell Roberts all of Miami, FL and Maria Burris of High Point, NC.
