Marie Gardner Garlington

Reverend Marie Garie Gardner Garlington was born June 18, 1920, in Chesterfield County, SC to Joseph Gardner and Emma Bennett Gardner. She went from labor to reward on Tuesday, November 9, 2004, at High Point Regional Hospital.

She began her ministry early in life, becoming pastor of St. Matthew Holiness Church in 1992, serving faithfully until her health began to fail in 1998. She was united in marriage to Elder Age Garlington, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, an adopted son, four brothers, two sisters and a special niece, Josephine Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her fond memories; one brother, Elder Jeremiah (Barbara) Gardner, one sister, Geneva (Gilbert) Goore all of Lynchburg, VA; one grandson, Kevin (Sumayyah) Robinson of Greensboro, NC; two nieces, Naomi (James) Ashe, Dora (Terry) Leggett all of Cheraw, SC; one nephew, J.C. (Gladys) Gardner of Baltimore, MD; a devoted friend and caregiver, Elizabeth Lee and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends.
