Joyce Jones Morton Maxwell was born June 4, 1948 in Laurinburg, NC to the late John D. Jones and the late Nannie Mae Mitchell. Joyce, departed this life on Monday, June 6, 2022 at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro, NC. She received her early education at Snow Hill Elementary School and was a graduate of Laurinburg Institute.
Joyce was a precious gift to us all from God as witnessed by her family and friends. During her lifetime, she was a true example of the scripture that instructs us to love God and to love thy neighbor as thyself. Joyce’s life of loving God, sharing caring and giving started first with her family where she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister,aunt,cousin, and especially a friend. This continued into her professional career as a CNA at the VA Hospital in San Diego,CA and later providing private in home health care services dedicated to helping others.
Joyce accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined Jones Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She moved to Washington, DC, and then to Long Beach, CA. Upon moving back to High Point, NC she joined True Standard Holiness Church, where she was a faithful member until her death.
Joyce, was preceded in death by her father John D. Jones, mother Nannie Mae Mitchell Jones, daughter Larronda Morton, brothers John Russell and her sister Thelma Jones Ware. She is survived by her husband Duane Maxwell, sons: Ronnie Morton and Sean Maxwell (CA), Rickey Thomas and Dantrell Turner (High Point, NC), grandchildren: Tianna, Shante, Jaiesha, Naomi, Louis, Deonte, Aris, Trey and Kamarion and a host of other relatives and friends.
