Joseph MaJok Guot passed on December 18th, 2020, in Beacon Place, a Hospice located in Greensboro, North Carolina. Joseph Guot was born on January 1, 1981, and died of cancer at the age of 39. Prior to his arrival to the United States in April of the year 2001, Joseph left his immediate family behind in 1987 while young. He ran to a neighboring country, now known as Ethiopia, due to a civil war transpiring back in Sudan, which resulted in a breakaway of South Sudan from Sudan as an independent nation in July of 2011. In 1992, Joseph Guot, along with others, traveled to Kenya, a destination from which he left again for the United States as a refugee. In the United States, Joseph worked hard in the manufacturing industry for several years before he went back to his birth town of Aweil, South Sudan. During this visitation period, he established his own family, and he was blessed with a daughter whom he left behind alongside his beloved wife, his daughter’s mother. Although Joseph Guot will be missed by all, his legacy shall live with us in our memory
