Mr. Johnnie Clayton DeBerry, age 63, of High Point, NC, departed his earthly home on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Wake Forrest Hospital. He was born in MacFarland, NC to the late Edward and Josie Lindsey.
Johnnie was mostly known as DeBerry. He was very energic and full of life. He loved to talk junk to his nieces and nephews. He would often threaten to “get his belt”; but no one took him seriously. Johnnie enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He always had a smile on his face and never met a stranger.
In 1966, DeBerry moved to High Point, NC from MacFarland, where he resided with his loving aunt Christine Marshall. He attended High Point Central High School. Johnnie retired from Carolina Container in 2020, where he worked as a machine operator.
He is now united with his parents and his baby sister, Phyllis Lindsey.
DeBerry leaves to cherish his memories to his children, Stephon Martin and Jarra Martin of High Point, NC and Kenyata Johnson of Thomasville, NC. He has four grandchildren, Jamari Stokes, Ja’Kiya Moore, Jayceon Poole and Kaitlyn Johnson; four siblings, Johnny (Brenda) Townsend of Monroe, NC, Linda Lindsey, Delores Lindsey and Edward Lindsey all of High Point, NC; the mother of his children, Sharon Lynn and special friend, Katina Johnson; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other family and friends; we would also like to acknowledge his dog, Pebbles.
