Joe Horne

Joe Louis Horne, our beloved father departed his earthly life on December 22, 2014 to rest with our heavenly father. Fondly called by many as “ Granddaddy”.

He was born April 22,1936 to Sims Allen Sr. and Mary Ellen Horne Tate. Joe attended Anson County public schools. He worked at City Transfer for more than 15 years. He was also employed with Trinity Foam. Our father loved to refer to himself as a country boy, raised on a farm. He was a robust man, strong and playful at times. He lived his life on his own terms. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife Cora Faye Horne, of Greensboro NC; Four children, Carrlee( Charles Jr.) Hopkins of Salisbury, NC JoAnne(Charles) Jackson, Carol (Gregory) Barrett and Mark (Linda) Horne all of High Point, NC; He was loved by all his grandchildren, Tonya, Nakia, Corey, Torie, Kevin, Angel, Natalia, Khrystal, Kareema, Chelsea, and a host of great grandchildren. One sister; Mary Alice Horne of Thomasville, NC; four special cousins Mary Beasley, Virgil Horne, Essie Mae Colson, and James Horne; One sister in law Ellen Kaye (John) McCormick of Trinity, NC. One Niece; San; one nephew; Reggie of Thomasville; A host of cousins and other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of life for Mr. Joe Louis Horne will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday December 31,2014 at Solid Rock Baptist Church 903 E Kearns Ave. Family visitation will be held 12:30pm at the church.
