Mr. Jerry W. Pate (53), better known as “Chester”, exited his earthly journey peacefully on Thursday, December 28, 2017 surrounded by his family at High Point Regional UNC Health System, High Point, NC.
Jerry was born May 26, 1964 in High Point, NC to Y.Z. Tucker and Catherine Wright Pate.
He was a graduate from Southwest Guilford High School Class of ‘1982, where he was an avid basketball player. Jerry was last employed by Hatteras Yachts in High Point. He attended Church at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Greensboro, NC. Jerry had a love for sports, television shows, and "chalking it up" with friends and family. On any given day you would find him watching ESPN, soap operas, or jeopardy. Jerry loved meeting new people. He always shared a smile with anyone he came in contact with along with jokes. Jerry also had a love for playing different board games, which he spent time teaching his kids to play.
He was preceded in death by his father, Y.Z. Tucker; grandfather, O.Z. Tucker; uncles, Marvin and Donnie Tucker and aunt, Louise Holland.
He leaves to cherish his memories to, one son, Corey D. (Stacey) Pate of High Point, NC and a daughter, Carmelia (SGT Kenneth) Carroll of Goldsboro, NC; four grandchildren, Lil. Corey “CJ,” Celeste, Chloe Grace, and Celina Ari.
Those also left to hold him forever in their hearts are, four brothers, Larry Wright, Maurice (Toni) Pate, Montrell Pate all of High Point, NC. Donald Ray Pate of Baltimore, Maryland, and four sisters, Rosalie Pate, Pearlie Alston, Ramona Leach all of High Point, NC and Angie Tucker of Baltimore, Maryland. his niece, Delores Gaddy; a host of other nieces, nephews, and friends.
