James Parnell

Mr. James Edward Parnell "COACH", 84, died Jan. 15, 2021 at Westchester Manor of Covid-19 related illness. He was born April 26, 1936, the son of James Turner Parnell and Lilly Mae Woods Parnell in Bennettsville, SC.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Horace Parnell, and the mother of his children, Katie Parnell and Anne Rainey.

His passion in life was coaching baseball, basketball, football, and two seasons coaching his daughter's softball team. Thousands of people knew him as Coach Parnell. His second passion was his three grandchildren, Maiya Parnell, Aydin Rainey and Myles Rainey.
Also, left to cherish his memory are his five children, Milton, Betty, Scott, Melanie Parnell and Darrin (Layne) Rainey. Including his siblings, Annie Lee Southerland, Gloria Cook, and Levance (Alice) Parnell.

We would also like to recognize his church family at St. Mary's United Methodist Church of Trinity, NC.

No funeral service will be held.
