Helen Ruth Byers, fondly known as “Blue”, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the age of 64. Born on April 20, 1959, she was a cherished daughter of Joann Lowery and John Robert Lowery, and raised with love by her stepfather, James Myers (Carolyn Myers). Helen leaves behind a legacy of love and faith. She was a wife to Samuel L. Byers, Jr., and a treasured mother to her three children, Yushevia L. Lowery, Emmanuel L. Byers (wife, Ashley Byers), and Samuel L. Byers III (wife, Myisha Byers), and stepson, Samuel N. Byers. Her legacy extends to her nine beautiful grandchildren who brought her immense joy. For many years, Helen served the Guilford County school system as a custodian and cafeteria assistant. Her dedication and warm heart brought joy to students and staff alike. Helen was a woman of strong faith, finding comfort and guidance in the daily reading of her Bible. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a dedicated member of Solid Rock Baptist Church, serving faithfully as a Senior Usher and on the planning committee. She also possessed a remarkable talent for cooking and never failed to impress with her delicious dishes. Quick-witted and always ready with a clever comeback, Blue brought humor and light to every conversation. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Sandra Creft, Hazel Sanders, James Lowery, and Duron Lowery. Helen is also survived by her loving siblings, Johnny Wayne Lowery, Mildred Martin, John Thomas Lowery, Angela Lowery, Delores McCullough and Ja’Cal Myers, and a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
