KELLAM, Gail Delores, age 60, formerly of High Point, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, September 28th, 2023. She was born in Newark, New Jersey and later moved to the Vailsburg section of Newark. Gail was a high school graduate honors student of Saint Dominics Academy in Jersey City and earned her paralegal certification at Taylors's Business School at Bloomfield College. Recently, she was a student at GTCC in Jamestown, North Carolina. As a child and yound adult, Gail was a member of Abyssinian Baptist Church in Newark. She was passionate about her work in the paralegal industry and worked for the Port Authority law department for many years as well as other law firms. As a child Gail participated in various dance genres, but her greatest affection lied within jazz and afro-dance. She continued her love for dance throughout her life and had a zest for music and traveling. True to Gail's resilient nature, she was a survivor of breast cancer and frequently expressed her genuine interests in giving back to her community.
Gail is survived by her devoted son, Christopher Jerell Alston (35), grandchildren, Cherish Alston (13), Christopher Alston Jr. (7) and Carmelo Alston Jr. (6), her brother, Anthony Karl Kellam, stepmother, Mari Kellam, nieces, Kiyanah Kellam, Laquita Kellam, Anaya Kellam, Anjaliese Cutler, nephew, Curtis Cutler III, great nieces, Cali Cutler, Asata Kellam, great nephew, Keizon Houston, extended family, the Murphy Family, the Outlaw Family, good friend, Jackie Mingo, childhood best friends/sister, Ameenah Sarfeyyan, "nieces," Ashley and Kiara and a host of other family and friends.
Gail is preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Kellam, mother, Gertrude Hemphill Kellam and a brother, Curtis Cutler.
