Frankie Lee Staton Crowder, aka “Grand”, is the daughter of Pearlean Chambers Staton and the late Frank Thomas Staton. She was born on September 30, 1934 in Marshville, North Carolina and departed this life on January 18, 2015 surrounded by the love of her family at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She attended Union County Public Schools and joined Flintridge Baptist Church in Marshville, North Carolina at an early age. In 1953, she married Donald Wayne Crowder and to this union they were blessed with three children. In 1955, they relocated to Orangeburg, South Carolina. Mrs. Crowder became a faithful member of St. Paul Baptist Church and served as an ordained deaconess and choir member in addition to being a devoted housewife and mother.
After many years in South Carolina, they relocated to High Point, North Carolina where she became a friend to most everyone. Frankie genuinely shared her love, compassion, wit and wisdom with all. She traveled to various church events and was often found entertaining others at the local Kentucky Fried Chicken and Bojangles’ restaurants. She was a member at Living Water Baptist Church and honored as a “Mother” of the church. Mrs. Crowder truly loved her family and was preceded in death by her father, one brother: Craven Staton, and her husband.
Mrs. Crowder leaves cherished memories with her mother: Ms. Pearlean Chambers Staton; two daughters: Marie Page (Daniel) and Marilyn Crowder of High Point, NC; one son: Marcus Crowder of the home; five grand-children: Ray Dantzler of High Point, NC, Minerva A. Dantzler of Cary, NC, Danielle Barrino (Travon) of Apex, NC, Jereme Crowder of Archdale, NC, and Dwayne Hines of Greensboro, NC; eight great-grandchildren: Winston Washington, Razaun Dantzler, Trevon Hines, Jairus Page, Joniah Hines, Christian Dantzler, Isaiah Barrino, and Trinity Barrino; three sister-in-laws: Jerlene Polk (James) of Peachland, NC, Eva Forrest (Mitchell) of Seat Pleasant, MD and Minnie Crowder of Monroe, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
