Eunice Whitworth 74, passed away on November 14, 2017. Eunice a native of High Point, N.C. was born January 6, 1943 to the late Herbert Lee Murphy and Josephine Murphy Garvin-Haile. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Jacob Lee Whitworth, Jr.; as well as five siblings: Lenell Murphy, Theodore Murphy, Blanche Jackson, Virginia Garvin and Josie Merwin.
She received her early education in Lugoff, South Carolina and later moved to High Point, North Carolina where she worked at Carolina Springs for 13 Years and Mobile Chemical for 10 years. Eunice was a past member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, High Point, North Carolina where she served as a member of the Junior Choir. Eunice’s grandmother Julia Shannon Murphy, taught Eunice her first prayers at a chair by the bedside, bowed down at her knees. Eunice loved the Lord and was baptized at St. Matthew Baptist Church, Lugoff, South Carolina. She was also a member of the Friendly Savings Club; a group of lifelong friends that traveled and shared the best of times.
Surviving family members include: sons, Keith B. Murphy of Miami, Florida and Gregory Donnell Murphy (Stephanie) of Lithonia, Georgia; daughter, Tracie M. Chalmers of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and a brother Thomas Garvin of High Point, North Carolina. Eunice also leaves 3 grandchildren (Kenny, Aaron, Candace), 2 great-grandchildren (Amarion, Kaylynn) and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
