Elijhah (Red) McLean was born June 17, 1931, in Robinson County, NC, to the late Tobe and Sudie McLean. He attended Robinson Count Schools. He became employed by Highland Cotton Mill and was last employed by Sun Bridge Nursing Home where he later retired.
Elijah married Ella Lee Southerland on April 15, 1956. They later moved to High Point, NC in 1960. He was a member of Southern Grove Baptist Church and later became an active member of Living Water Baptist Church, where he was a well-respected deacon.
Elijah leaves to cherish his loving memories; his wife of 50 years, Ella McLean of the home; two daughters, Becky McLean and Vickie (Abraham) McKiver of High Point, NC; six sons, James Southerland, Bobby (Jackie), Johnny (Victoria), Mark McLean, Tyrone McLean, all of High Point, NC and Elijah Jr of Lexington, NC; two brothers, James (Helen) McLean of Indian Head, MD and Roland (Mary) McLean of High Point, NC, One sister; Lula Baker of Greensboro, NC; two sisters-in-law, Betty and Helen McLean and one very special sister-in-law; Georgia Farley, 26 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
