Edward Mccormick

Edward Frank “Bub” McCormick, age 80, of Thomasville, NC passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at UNC Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC.

He was born on March 26, 1935 to Minnie Lee McCormick and Charles William Hardison in Wadesboro, NC.  Affectionately known as “Bub,” he was educated in at Greenhill and Deep Creek Schools in Wadesboro, NC.  Bub relocated to Newbern NC as a teenager later he moved to Thomasville, NC to make his home.  He was employed with Thomasville Furniture Company for 17 years.  His later employment included Southern Veneer Factory, where he retired.  He was also a co-owner of M&W grocery in Trinity, NC.

Edward was united in marriage to Gracie Lee Love on October 14, 1962, to their union included a daughter.  Edward “Bub” deeply enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially with his friends, James Murant and Pee Wee Coleman.  He also enjoyed motorcycles and listening to music.

Bub was preceded in death by his wife, Gracie Love McCormick. In addition, his parents, one sister, Margaret R. Williams, and one brother, Willie T. Hardison all preceded him in death.

He leaves fond memories to: his children, Deborah Matthews of the home, Linda McCormick of High Point, NC and Demetric Williams of High Point, NC; two grandsons, Dee McCormick of High Point, NC and Javon Matthews of the home; brothers, Freddie (Estelle) McCormick of High Point, NC, Odell (Harriet) Bennett of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, John (Kay) McCormick of Trinity, NC; sisters, Bernice Tate of Trenton, NJ, Charlie Mae of New York; aunts, Mittie Little of Thomasville, NC, Louise Louallen of Greensboro, NC, Dora Birch of  Amityville, NY, uncles, Henry D. (MaryAlice) Hardison and Lee Thomas Hardison all of Wadesboro, NC; brothers-in-law, James (Virginia) Love of Largo, MD, Robert (Lula) Love and James Williams all of Thomasville, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, and many favorite cousins.
