Douglas Everette Smith, age 64 of High Point, NC departed this earthly life on Thursday, July 25, 2024, while at Hospice Home of High Point.
Known as Doug, he was born to the late Douglas Smith Jr. and Dorothy Lay Douglas-Stevenson. A resident of High Point all his life, Doug was educated in the High Point City Schools.
He was a former member of Greater New Hope Baptist Church and Solid Rock Baptist Church where he served faithfully. He later joined Chosen Generation Outreach Deliverance Center where he served as a Deacon and assisted with the finance committee until his health declined.
Doug was married to Mary Pearson Smith and from that union two children were born. He worked for Dar Ran furniture as a supervisor for over 20 years.
Doug was a wonderful provider to his family. He enjoyed sitting on his front porch engaging in conversation with family and people in the neighborhood.
In addition to his parents, Doug was proceeded in death by; his son, Carlton Smith; one grandson, Frederick Cox; granddaughter, LaTerrian Smith; one brother, Donovan Smith; three sisters, Sylvia McEachin, Charlotte Hairston, and Celeste Morgan; stepmother, Essie Mae Smith; stepfather, Albert Stevenson; mother-in-law, Nealie Mae Pearson
He leaves to cherish his memories to his loving and devoted wife of 47 years, Mary Smith of the home, two daughters, Tenicka Smith of the Home and Ric-Quanda Pollard of High Point, NC; one grandson, Nijah Smith of High Point, NC; six great grandchildren, Carlmese, De’Onni, Zay-Den, Nasir, Camelia, and D’Naji of High Point; four brothers, Michael Douglas, Charleston, SC, Mitchell (Pearl) Smith, South Boston, VA, Bobby (Dana) Smith, Greensboro, NC, Douglas (Leslie) Morgan Jr, Killeen, TX; four sisters, Norma Mitchell of High Point, NC, Tammy (Charles) Gilchrist, Jamestown, NC, LaKeyshia and Laurie Hairston of Seat Pleasant, MD; Godchildren, Kendrick Fair, Kierra Pearson, Brandon Steele, and James “Mitch” Sewell; and a host of many loving and caring, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and longtime friends, although not named Doug loved you dearly.
