Mr. Douglas Smith Jr. age 73 of High Point, NC departed this earthly life on August 8, 2013. He was born January 18, 1940 in Maxton, NC to the late Mr. Douge Smith and Mrs. Geneva McIntyre Smith. He attended Robeson County Schools.
Douglas worked for Carolina Container until his retirement. He was married to the late Essie Smith. He enjoyed working on cars and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents he was also preceded in death by two daughters, Joann Aiken and Evangelist Sylvia McEachen; one son, Donavan Smith; four brothers, Leonard Smith, Nezell Smith, William Smith and Andy Smith; one grandson, Carlton Smith.
Douglas is survived by five sons, Michael Douglas of Charleston, SC, Mitchell (Pearl) Smith of South Boston, VA, Douglas (Mary) Smith of High Point, Bobby (Dana) Smith of Greensboro, NC and Douglas (Leslie) Morgan of Charlottesville, VA; six daughters, Norma Mitchell, Charlotte (Samuel) Haiston of High Point, Tammy (Charles) Gilchrist of Jamestown, NC, Celeste Morgan and Lakeyshia Hairston of Washington, DC and Laurie Hairston of Greensboro, NC; his step-mother, Eunice Ezekiel Smith; four brothers, James (Elizabeth) Smith, Bobby (Carrie) Smith of High Point, Levon Smith and Edward Smith of Baltimore, MD; five sisters, Pearlie (Charlie) Hawkins, Jennie Johnson, Dorothy Smith, Mary (Knox) Quick and Katie (Eve) Hope all of High Point, NC; thirty-six grandchildren, forty great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; nieces, nephews, uncles, in-laws, cousins and special friend, Sharon Hunter of High Point, NC.
