Deacon James Howard Sr.

Deacon James Jefferson Howard, Sr. was taken by the hand of the Lord from this earthly home to his heavenly home on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Alamance Regional Hospital. He was born July 24, 1970 in Burgaw, NC to Cassie McAllister and Edell Howard McAllister. He matriculated from the Baden County Public Schools. Deacon James Howard, Sr., was a jovial and considerate man who made it his business to always serve God, by serving his family, his pastor(s), his church and his community. He was instrumental in the purchase of Mt. Calvary Holy Church in Greensboro, NC. His duty was to assist Bishop J.U. Roberts as Trustee and Chairman if the Finance Department. His record keeping and formulation of documents made it possible to acquire the property. Making it possible for the local congregation to purchase their new church home. He also served the church for many years in Music Ministry. Bishop J.U. Roberts paid a deference and entreated him as his right hand man. On November 9, 2008 the Lord instructed Deacon James Howard Sr. and his family to join Calvary Covenant Fellowship in several ministry capacities that include but are not limited to Transportation Ministry, founding member  and lead singer for "The Gospel Harmonizers", Culinary Art's Ministry and Audio/Video Ministry, a member if Shepherd's Staff and an avid supporter of the College Ministry. Because of his multifaceted zeal and labor, he gained the reputation of doing whatever was necessary to accomplish his leader's vision. Though often criticized for his stance he proved faithful and obedient unto death. His life mirrored the scripture that declares, "Whatever your hands find to do, do it with all your might." Greater than his service to the church was his love for his family. He was a loving husband and caring husband, a supportive father to his children and a proud grandfather. Deacon James Howard, Sr. leaves to cherish his loving memories and furtherance of legacy to his loving wife, Bonnita Howard, his parents, Cassie McAllister and Edell Howard McAllister, three children, James D. Wright (Ashley), Bonnisha Howard and James Howard Jr. Two grandchildren; James Devon Jr., and Xavier Oliver. One brother; Stephon Murphy, three sisters, Mary McAllister, Kenya Kitchel (Ryan) Gloria Obua, One sister-in-law, Mia Frazier, three brothers-in-laws, Robert Donnell Jr., (Kathy), Bruce Frazier and Daron Donnell (Karlina) a host of other family members and dedicated friends.
