David "Oil Can" Pearson

David Jerome Pearson, 62, better known as “Oil Can” was born January 16, 1963, to the late Willie and Nealie Pearson in Bennettsville, SC. He peacefully departed this life on Saturday March 22, 2025, in the warmth of his own home.

David graduated from McColl High School in 1981. He was a dedicated landscaper, and mechanic for over 40 years. David was an amazing father, fiancé, brother, son, and friend. He was respected for his perceptive advice and wisdom. Who needs a therapist when you have an Oil Can? 

He was always one phone call away no matter the situation. He took pride in building cars from the ground up, he also enjoyed listening to music, and being around family & friends. Early as a child he attended Green Pond Church Of God in Christ in Gibson, SC.

In addition to his parent, seven brothers preceded him in death: Ulysses Pearson, James Pearson, Willie Pearson, Walter Pearson, Frank Pearson, Bobby Pearson, and Theodore Pearson; three sisters Lula Bristow, Alice Mae Smith, and Jackie Pearson; one sister-in-law, Emma Pearson, and two brothers-in-law, Frank Bristow, and Douglas Smith.

David leaves to Cherish his memories: Fiancé Sarah Little, of High Point, NC. Four children David (Whitney) Crosby, QuWana Pearson, LaPaul (Jackie) Crosby, NaKesha Crosby; Aljariq Lee (A nephew, but more like a son) all of High Point, NC. twenty-one grandchildren, and five great grandchildren; one brother, Earl (Peggy) Pearson of High Point, NC; four sisters Magalene Pearson, Martha (Luis) Pearson, Mary Smith, all of High Point, NC and Joyce Pearson of Aberdeen, NC; and one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Pearson also a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who loved him dearly.
