Daisy Nickens

Our beloved Mrs. Daisy Bruton Nickens, departed this life peacefully on Monday, September 10, 2007, while a patient at the Evergreens Senior Healthcare facility in High Point, NC.

We, her family members, pause to say, "Thank You God for the almost ninety-one years you allowed her to be among us."

Daisy was a member of Russell Temple CME church in Alexandria, VA, in which she served in several organizations. She was an active member until her health disallowed her to do so.

Daisy was united in Holy Matrimony to Louis P. Nickens, who preceded her in death. She was the last living daughter of the later Van and Mary Horne Bruton. There were six brothers: Charlie, Haywood, Van, Leon, Aaron and Clay Bruton: Four sisters, Mamie B. Legrand, Rosa B. Smith, Lessie B. Ingram and Flora B. Holloway, all precedes her in death.

Left to cherish her memories is a devoted foster son, Roy Coles Jr., five sisters-in-laws, Elnora Mills, Costella Shackelford, Helen (Owen) Dunbar of Arlington, VA, Marguerite Bannara of Minneapolis, MN and Mary Addison of Alexandria, VA, Nine nieces, special caretaker niece, Lillian Ingram and six nephews.
