Cora Horne

February 25, 1927 — November 13, 2014

Mrs. Cora Mae Wright Horne, age 87, of High Point, NC was transformed from her earthly life and surged into eternal light of peace on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at her residence. Cora was born February 25, 1927 in Wadesboro, NC to Mr. James Wright and Mrs. Cora Mae Kendall Wright.

Cora attended and completed her education at Anson County Public Schools. Later she was joined in holy matrimony to her loving and caring husband ,Shelton D. Horne, Sr. from which they shared for 67 years.

Preceding her in death are her parents, eight brothers and one son, Freddie Horne.

Cora was a loyal and faithful member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she was the Mother Of The Church, she served as a Sunday school teacher, she was a missionary worker for Christ and in community activities until her health declined. Her description of human personality was patience, soft spoken, loyal and humble.

Those left to cherish her fond and beautiful memories are her loving husband of the home; two daughters, Linda Diggs and Phyllis (Johnny) Chandler of both of High Point, NC; one son, Shelton D. Horne, Jr of High Point, NC; two grandchildren whom she raised as her own, Wayne Horne and Stevie Horne; fifteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, hosts of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a circle of friends; one sister, Julia Lee Williams of Wadesboro, NC; one caring and devoted niece, Delores Timmons Miller of High Point, NC.
