Carrie Lee Price entered eternal rest on Friday, March 22, 2019. She was predeceased by her husband, Johnny Price; her son, Timothy Price; her parents; and a sister, Ruby Nelson.
Carrie was born on November 20, 1935 in Avery, Georgia to Arthur Roberts and Annie Lee Hobbs. Growing up in a rural community with her beloved Mama and Grandma, she learned the value of caring for others and working hard. Carrie was educated in Georgia and received her high school diploma from the Jefferson County Training School in Louisville, Georgia.
After graduation Carrie moved to High Point, North Carolina to live with her Aunt Lucille. It was there that she met, and later married, Johnny Price. From this union, four sons were born. The Price family moved from High Point to Norfolk, Virginia, where their sons grew up and were educated. Johnny and Carrie enjoyed entertaining family and friends. After more than 20 years and Johnny’s storied careers in the military, health care and the construction industry, and Carrie’s storied careers in nursing and food service, they moved back to High Point permanently.
Carrie was a faithful and devoted servant who enjoyed cooking for family and friends, spending time with her sisters-in-law, watching her “stories,” and patiently waiting for her scratch-off tickets to yield a big jackpot. In her later years, she found pleasure in sharing her cooking expertise with the food service ministry at God’s United House of Grace and Mercy.
Her life continues through her children, Ray Price (Michelle), Van Price (Patricia) and Jefferson “Jed” Price; and grandchildren, Kathy Curry (Michael), Samuel Price, Rajeana Price, Patrika McCall (D’Anthony), Michael Price (Jasmine), Vodecia Price, Vanessa Price and Elijah Price. Also left to cherish her memory are her sister, Ollie Neal; eleven great-grandchildren; five great, great grandchildren; three special sisters-in-law, Etta Brannon, Lula Price and Shirley Price; brother-in-law Melvin Price; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends with many happy memories of their life together.
We give thanks for the life of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
