Minister Boyd Williams, Jr., age 71, departed this earthly life on Thursday, October 31st, 2024, with his devoted companion by his side. “B.J.”, as he was affectionally known, was born September 16, 1953, in Marlboro County, South Carolina, to the late Luther James Williams and Mamie Purnell Williams. B.J. was married to the late Pamela Howie Williams.
He served in ministry as a preacher for over 25 years. He was a dedicated member of the Thompson Chapel CME Church in Lexington, North Carolina. He also had devoted love for Williams Memorial CME. B.J. was a great teacher of the bible, and he carried his bible wherever he went. He was a faithful employee in the furniture market industry for many years. B.J. was always willing to lend help, however you had to pay him a small fee. He never met any strangers. BJ never missed any family events and had a swift way of talking to others. He had an amazing love for his Williams family.
In addition to his parents and his wife, BJ was also preceded in death by his four brothers; Theatmus “Bill” Williams, Leroy “Pete” Williams, Pastor James “MoeBoy” Purnell and James “BaeBae” Williams; niece, Sharon Castro; loving aunts and uncles, Anna B. Williams, RC Williams, Freddie Williams, Annie Kate McClain, Theo and Theodore Williams, Clevester Williams, Geneva W. Brown, and Savannah Kollock.
He is survived by one son, Anthony McCoy; one brother, Willie “Mook” Williams; one sister, Minister Evonne Williams; two grandsons, Marc McCoy and Ray Williams; sister-in-law, Roberta Purnell; special friend, Vivian “Vann” Buchannon; uncles & aunts, nephews, nieces, many cousins, and friends
