Beverly Ann Gates Alexander, 58, daughter of the late Rev. James Robert and Martha Arlena Gates, of Coeburn, Virginia and most recently of Baltimore County, Maryland, quietly went to be with her Heavenly Father on January 20, 2013.
Beverly was born in High Point, North Carolina, on February 4, 1954. She attended T. Wingate Andrews High School in High Point, North Carolina. She worked 18 years at the U. S. Patent and Trademark Office in Crystal City, Virgina and later received a nursing a nursing degree and was Director of Nursing at Duffield Adult Residential Center in Duffield, Virginia. Beverly had a love for God's Word, always encouraging people even through her illness. She enjoyed a good book, dancing, good music, cooking and loving her children and her grandchildren who were so special to her. There was nothing that she wouldn't do for her family and friends.
Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Robert Quintin and Carlos Aurelius Gates and nephew, James Earl Gates Jr.
Beverly is survived by her beloved daughter, Traleise "Lisa" Alexander of Baltimore, Maryland and beloved son, Rodney "Podgie" Alexander Jr of Fredericksburg, Virginia, grandchildren, Christopher Alexander, Tre and Taylor Alexander Mance of Baltimore County, Maryland and Devon AlexAander of Florida, her longtime and devoted companion, David Merchant of Coeburn, Virginia, also left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Rose Haile of Wilmington, Delaware, Dorothy Gates and Viola Gates-Long of High Point, NC, Mary (Andrew) Gates-Champion of Beltsville, Maryland and her brother, James (Sheila) earl gates of High Point, North Carolina, a host of nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
