Bessie Carter

March 31, 1934 — October 13, 2017

Bessie Lee Emerson Carter, 83 departed her earthly on Friday, October 13, 2017.  She was born March 31, 1934 Johnny and Elsie Emerson.

She graduated from William Penn High School where she was the majorette, for the William Penn Tigers marching band.  A resident of High Point most of her life, she was a member of Williams Memorial where she was a pianist for the gospel choir.  Bessie enjoyed playing the piano, gospel music, collecting stuff animals, and watching movies.  She was a dispatcher for the first owned African Cab Company for years.

Bessie was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Johnny F. Emerson.

She leaves to cherish her memories to her two sisters, Cassandra Gibson and Florenette Clinton; one brother, James Glen Crosby; her adopted family, Richard, Diane, Lee and Lauren Hookenpower all of High Point; a host nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 2:00pm at
