Barbara Bethea

January 5, 1952 — July 21, 2020

Barbara Jean Bethea, 68, a resident of Greensboro, NC, passed peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2020. She was born on January 5, 1952, in Bennettsville, SC, to Lucille Bethea and Edward Lee Little. Barbara was the tenth child born of eleven. Barbara was raised in Brooklyn, NY. She relocated to High Point, NC, in 1979 and resided there for over twenty years. Afterwards, she moved to Greensboro, NC. Barbara was enthusiastic about the computer science field, and she spent a considerable amount of time immersed in learning the latest technologies. She was formerly employed as a Computer Technologist for twenty-plus years, receiving many certifications. She specialized in many projects and also worked for a variety of telemarketing companies. To say my mom was out of this world is an understatement. She lived her life to the fullest and loved her children and grandchildren. She was passionate about drawing, puzzles, shopping, computer games, and music, not to mention, she was an avid reader and quite a movie buff. Most of all, she loved her family. She was extremely proud of her children. If you knew her, there was no denying this fact. She loved her grandchildren and especially her great-grandson, whom she doted on and shared most of her time with. If her children were the rainbow, then her grands and great-grandson were the pot of gold. All in all, she was perfect the way she was. Speaking on behalf of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: “We couldn’t have asked for a better mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother." We couldn't have deserved you in a thousand lifetimes. You will be loved and missed tremendously. May your soul Rest in Peace. We love you!Family members who survive her include: her three sons, Jerome Bethea, Asanti Burrus, and David Burris; one daughter, Latonya White; seventeen grandchildren, Jasmine, Tanashe, Jocqua, Jacquel, DeJanay, J’Kaila, Ortaj, Chazden, Gillian, Ryen, Chloe, Xia, Zoe, Gabrielle, Asanti Jr., Zyvie, and Zuri; great-grandson, Keir; her only sister, Mary Bethea; one brother, Jewel Burns; and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends whom she loved immensely.
