Artilla Quick Johnson, 72, a virtuous woman of God went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, August 5, 2012, at her residence.
She was born February 22, 1940, in Bennettsville, SC, to the late Roger Sr. and Claretta Conwell Quick. Artilla graduated from Eastside High School in Marlboro County, SC. She moved to High Point, NC in 1958 where she met and married James Johnson on July 31, 1959. They celebrated 53 years of marriage on July 31, 2012. Five children were joined from this union. Artilla was employed with High Point Regional Hospital over 30 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
She loved the Lord and never lost her faith in Him. She was a faithful member of Williams Memorial CME Church, where she served as a Missionary, Womens Sunday School Teacher, Senior Choir member and a member of the Health and Wellness Ministry until her health declined. she was also a pens collector, and her favorite color was purple. Mrs. Johnson loved her family and enjoyed their time together.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Donnie Johnson and a stepdaughter, Martha Lane Smith.
Left to cherish fond memories are her husband of 53 years, Mr. James Johnson of the home; one daughter, Marinda Johnson of the home; one stepdaughter, Evelyn Waden of the home; three sons, Douglas Johnson of Greenville, NC, Darrell Johnson and Derone (Jennifer) Johnson all of High Point, NC; one brother, Roger Quick Jr. of Bennettsville, SC; two sisters-in-law, Alice (William) Rainey of Thomasville, NC and Lillian Quick of Bennettsville, SC; ten grandchildren, including Lachelle Bethea who loved and helped care for her during her illness; great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
