Annie Bell Dawkins Walker, 80, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 25, 2011, at High Point Regional Hospital after a brief illness. She was a short-term resident at Clare Bridge Retirement Home in High Point.
Mrs. Walker was born in Shelby, NC, to the late Mr. John Thomas Dawkins and Mrs. Emma Stewart Dawkins. After graduation from William Penn High School, she was united in marriage to Rev. Alonzo Walker. They relocated to Harrisburg, PA, where her husband served as the Pastor of Church of God of Prophecy for many years. After his passing she joined the Steelton Church of God of Prophecy in Harrisburg, where she was a faithful member and served in many capacities. Mrs. Walker worked as a file clerk for Harrisburg Housing Authority at the William Howard Day Homes and served as the President of the Residents Council at the Morrison Towers. In 1980, she moved back to High Point, NC and attended Church of God of Prophecy.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Rev. Alonzo Walker and two sons, Gary and Alonzo Walker Jr. preceded her in death.
Mrs. Walker is survived by six children: Stephanie Walker, Minister Lisa Huff and Madeline Walker all of Greensboro, NC; three sons, Eric Walker of Harrisburg, PA, David Walker of Washington, DC and Minister Marcus (Minister Tamitha) Walker of Greensboro, NC; two brothers, Mr. Benjamin (Rachel) Dawkins and Mr. Alvin (Ann) Dawkins all of High Point, NC; 13 beloved grandchildren: Jason, Jessica, Ashley, Sheri, Shayla, Victoria, Dee Dee, Timothy, Eric Jr, Ryan, Marc, Xavier and Avery; 7 great grandchildren: Zion, Zaria, Naomi, Zyoona, Jay, Ashley and Jazmin; a host of beloved nieces, nephews and cousins that will miss her as well.
