The journey through life for Albert "Leroy" Cole began on May 30, 1938, in High Point, NC. he was the son of the late Frances Osborne Cole, Sr., and Mary Ethel Reives Cole, and the stepson of Mildred Cole. His earthly journey came to a close on Friday, November 2, 2012, at High Point Regional Hospital.
A lifetime resident of Florence Community in High Point, Leroy attended Florence Elementary School. He graduated from William Penn High School in 1956. He retired from North State Telephone Company after over 30 years of loyal service.
Leroy joined Turner's Chapel AME Church at an early age. He supported the church with his gifts and service. He served in many capacities including trustee, pastor's aide, church treasurer as well as president of the male chorus. He met Jane, his lifelong love, at a Sunday school convention were they both were serving as delegates.
He was united in holy matrimony to Jane Gregory Neal in 1969. His legacy includes his loving wife, Jane, of 53 years and daughters, Terri Ethel Cole of High Point, NV and Tammie Cole Neal (Donald) of Fayetteville, NC. He is also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Leroy possessed a strong, gentle loving spirit. He enjoyed entertaining family and friends at his home and "playhouse." Leroy welcomed everyone by affectionately referring to them a "CUZ." he was an avid baseball fan and always pulled for his New York Yankees. His interests included carpentry, decorating and cooking. Whenever called upon, Leroy was more than willing to help anyone in need. The family finds it great comfort in 2 Corinthians 5:8 that says, "We are confident, I say and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." Even though we are saddened by his passing, we know there is great joy in paradise with his mother, father, brothers and other loved ones.
